Vitamin D, Is Important to Calcium
Without the proper amount of vitamin D in your body, it won’t matter how much calcium you take, the body will not absorb the calcium. There are three ways to get vitamin D into your body; the best and natural way is to spend about fifteen to twenty minutes out in direct sunlight. The sun provides your body the “know how” to help it produce the vitamin D, so that when you consume any form of calcium it will be utilized properly.

The next way to take vitamin D, is through a supplement, some take the calcium with vitamin D; while I believe that taking vitamin D an half hour before taking the calcium supplement will help for better absorption, of cause scientist are working on this as we speak. In today’s medical world avoiding osteoporosis is very important. The third way to get vitamin D into our body is eating fatty fish, such as mackerel and salmon, eating eggs; sweet potatoes are also a good source, but not the best. Doctor suggest the sunlight, since consuming the supplement or any of the foods need to go through our livers first, to be broken down before the body can utilize the vitamin.
It is very important to young babies and children as they grow, to help build strong bones and teeth; and necessary throughout their teen years and young adult period, since bones and teeth still need strengthening; since they continuing to grow, during these years as well.
It is as we get older that maintaining our Vitamin D and Calcium is very important, because once we get to a particular age, which is different for each individual; your bones begin to lose mass. In the beginning the Vitamin D and calcium is needed for growing, as we get older we need these supplements are needed to maintain healthy bones and teeth. When your bones begin to lose its mass, it loses the strength to support the body. While Vitamin D is good for helping to absorb calcium, it also helps to keep the muscles strong. We seek more information daily on ways to help us protect our bones, and prevent them from loosing bone mass over time, especially as we get older. Insurance companies spend a lot of money on the elderly as they fall and break hips and other bones throughout their bodies, which usually require rehabilitation while the bone is mending.
As our bones weaken, we lose height, and that is because the bone loss occurs in the back, more noticeable in the upper part, which is when, you start to notice our parents and grandparent hunched over. The space in between the vertebrae becomes narrow, and the bones themselves begin to collapse on top of each other; which is what today’s doctor is trying to avoid early. Many woman and men are told to start taking calcium and Vitamin D, if not in their thirties, definitely by the time they begin to enter into their forties; prevention and maintaining good health starts with taking care of the body early in life; not waiting until something happens or breaks!
