Self-Hypnosis in the Treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Irritable bowel syndrome, also known as spastic colon, is a condition which affects the intestines and bowel. Symptoms of IBS can include cramps, bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, heartburn, abdominal pain, excessive gas production, swelling of the abdomen, along with many more uncomfortable symptoms. The reason why self-hypnosis is so successful in helping with IBS is because of the relaxation it brings, which ultimately improves blood flow to the gut. Stress is what inhibits blood flow to the bowel, so the lower your stress levels are, the better your digestion is.
