Asperger Syndrome – The Diagnosis
Asperger Syndrome is an Autistic Spectrum disorder. It is a life long disability which affects the way that people understand the world, process information, and communicate with others. The way that the condition affects people will vary both in terms of severity and the ways which the condition influences their behaviour. It is not possible to tell that someone has the condition just by looking at them, it is a hidden disability and people often assume that the person with Aspergers is being rude or badly behaved. The three main areas that people with Asperger syndrome struggle with are difficulty with communication, difficulty interacting with other people and difficulty with abstract thought and imagination. This is my account of coping with a child with Asperger Syndrome.
