Alzheimer’s disease is misdiagnosed at least one third of the time. Sometimes the problem is entirely different than the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. Lewy Body Dementia can be treated successfully but is often misdiagnosed as Alzheimer’s disease. The only way Alzheimer’s can be accurately diagnosed is during an autopsy after death. If you fear a member of your family has been misdiagnosed, seek out the opinion of several doctors.
