How Our Health is Paying for Our Obesity
Obesity isn’t a self-contained problem. Carrying extreme amounts of extra weight can be very damaging to your body in a wide variety of ways. It can also hurt you financially and at your place of employment. But one long-term effect of obesity that can persist even after losing weight is your orthopedic health. Your bones and connective tissues, including cartilage, can be placed under significant strain when you are obese. Your skeletal structure is responsible for carrying a significant load to begin with, but adding considerable amounts of fat to your body can lead to permanent orthopedic damage. Damage from being obese as a child can trouble you throughout your adult life.
