Numerous studies state that as long as you are eating a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, you are getting all the potassium you need. Yet just as many sources state that the majority of Americans and Europeans, particularly the Germans and Italians, are only consuming about 50% of the recommended intake of potassium. I try to keep tabs on my nutritional intake on a pretty regular basis, and if I don’t plan my meals, I consistently come up short on potassium. Based on my own personal experience, I feel pretty confident that the 2nd statement is much closer to the truth.
