First Aid
Immediate help given to a sick or injured person.
Before medical aid can be reached, first aid can save lives.
Why We Need to Spread the Knowledge

- It brings a sense of security at home or outside.
- The number of accidents is increasing day by day and so is the number of diseases due to the increase in population.
- It is especially important where hospitals and clinics are located at long distances.
- It can also help you to prevent further complications, probably death also.
Examples
- In case of snake bite, apply tourniquet above the bite and try to slow the blood flow by tying a cloth tightly so as to prevent the poison from spreading in rest of the body
- In case of severe burns put cold water or ice and apply ointment to prevent blisters
How First Aid Awareness Can Be Spread
- It should be a part of senior secondary school curriculum, colleges, universities etc.
- Special first aid camps can be organised for general public.
- Awareness regarding the importance of first aid should be spread through media – TV, magazines, posters etc.
