Each point takes care of a different problem. The basic acupressure technique is: Use firm pressure. You can apply this pressure with your thumbs, fingers,palms or knuckles,whatever is the most comfortable for you. The general rule is that pressure should be firm enough to hurt good. Don’t inflict pain upon yourself with to firm of pressure, this will defeat the whole purpose of acupressure. To relieve pain, first press the points gently for approximately 30 seconds. Increase the until it’s quite firm, holding it for one to three minutes. Then release slowly and gently, again taking 30 seconds to come off the points. Kneading is a basic warm-up before acupressure. Brisk rubbing, especially on the acupressure points helps increase blood flow. This technique is helpful for people that are bedridden or for people with poor circulation. This would be helpful in an older person with slow blood flow. This technique would be helpful for someone that has neuropathy. You don’t have to be an expert to use acupressure. You will be surprised at how the body relazes just a few minutes into the treatment. Why wait try it you may find it to be beneficial for your aches and pains.
