Peanut Butter

A short essay I wrote for my online class….Got an A+ too…..

Peanut butter: The traditional American spread that has been around for hundreds of years. Generation after generation has enjoyed this smooth, nutty spread on their sandwiches, crackers, and even in their dishes at restaurants as well. But did you know that, despite the misconception that peanut butter is high in fat & calories it shouldn’t be included in your diet, that peanut butter is actually very healthy?

Peanut butter has many health benefits, but for now, I will only cover a few specific topics so that this essay won’t become a novella,J.

Fiber

Peanut butter contains a fairly good amount of fiber (dietary); about 8-1.4% as an estimate. Fiber can help you keep your cholesterol levels in check, help you lose weight, and give your body the important vitamins& minerals it needs to survive and grow properly; Fiber also helps you from getting constipated, but that’s another essay.

Protein

Protein helps strengthen and repair your muscles, among other properties; Peanut butter contains a fair amount of it. A very simple way to get protein when eating a PB&J sandwich is to drink a tall glass of milk with it (Now we know why PB&J and milk go together). However, don’t just use peanut butter to get your recommend protein percent, make sure to keep a well-balanced diet to get all of your vitamins and minerals you need.

Losing weight

Just like popcorn, peanut butter has a curious way of keeping you un-hungry just by eating a small amount at one time. However, there has been a  heated debate between doctors about should you or should you not eat peanut butter to lose weight, as peanut butter contains high amounts of calories and fat; In my opinion, you should eat peanut butter to lose weight, but only in recommended amounts.

These are just a few facts about peanut butter and how it affects our lives. Below are a few closing “Did you know…” facts about peanut butter; Enjoy!
