Relaxation

Many women and men believe that hard work is the key to success, and while I agree, hard work is not the only important aspect of life. Health is an important factor in living a long and happy life, and an imperative part of good health is relaxation.

It is not essential to work all day, clean your house and go to bed for 5 hours of sleep; it is unbelievable the amount of people who live like this every day and it is truly frightening. It is vital to remember that relaxing after a hard days work is what keeps you healthy, all work and no play, kills people.

It’s hard to understand and believe a comment like this but it is absolutely true. Stress is placed on the body everyday, physical, mental and emotional, without stress the body would not be able to function but with too much stress a similar fate awaits us all. I am here to tell you that relaxation is of the utmost importance to your health and lifestyle and to give you a few ways to relax and de-stress without putting off or avoiding important daily activities. Now no one has an excuse.

First off take your dinner to the table, don’t eat while working or writing or reading at all. Eating is an important emotional and hormonal part of life and distracting this activity can be disastrous to your health.

Next, Take time out of your day to exercise, I know relaxation via exercise is not everyone’s first thought but working out produces endorphins, and these hormones in your brain are vital to your body’s health and generally make you happy. Working out is a great way to de-stress your mind, try to make it a fun run with a friend and chat, do a video that you enjoy, sitting at the gym for an hour isn’t the best way to work out so try an activity that you can have fun doing and your body and mind will thank you in the future.

Now take some time out every day for yourself, and yes I mean every single day. If you take 15 minutes to do something for yourself you will be healthier, so try meditating with some candles in the dark with some soothing music, listen to music in your bedroom with no one else around, take a walk on the deserted beach, close your eyes and listen to the birds outside or do whatever relaxes you and makes you feel separated from the busy world and your busy life. 

A great way to relax is to get a massage. Go to a spa and have a nice relaxing massage, while this helps your tissues and overall health and immune system, the relaxation itself is a great way to stay healthy and reduce stress. 

We all know that 15 minutes of mediation or a walk won’t get rid of the things you have to do and the busy life you have, and it especially won’t fix the huge stresses in your life such as problems at work or with family, but it is still essential to your health to get your mind away from these issues for a while each day. It will even help you to cope and deal with these issues when you are faced with them again. We all need to relax, use every opportunity to stop the stressful situation and close your eyes for a moment, breath and think for a second about the nice things in your life. Trust me, you will find yourself smiling and forgetting your problems, making it easier to deal with them later. Relax everyone, and enjoy life.
