How to Rid Yourself of Man Boobs or “Moobs”

Man Boobs or ‘Moobs’, also known as gynocomastia can be a man’s worst worry, not only as a warning of the excess fat he’s storing, but also a real self confidence killer. This is a basic guide to what they are, why they are there, and how, with a few simple changes, you can rid yourself of them.

Gynocomastia can be caused by hormonal imbalance, particularly in men over forty, when men’s testosterone levels are naturally dipping, but can also be caused by plain and simple storage of excess fat due to bad diet and lack of exercise.

The very first thing that needs to be said of course, is that if you think that a change in diet or an increase in exercise might in any way be detrimental to your health, or could put your health at risk in any way at all, you should discuss this with your doctor or general practitioner before making any change to your habits.  I am not a doctor, nor am I medically trained in any way.  My information is gleened purely from my own experience and research.  My advice should only be taken if and when you are truly happy that it is the right course of action for you.

The first thing to do, as with any excess fat stored around the body is to try and eat more healthily, such as a balanced combination of fruits, carbohydrates and proteins, and reducing the fat content of your diet.  This is not rocket science.  Bad diet is a well known cause of excess fat, and it is a habit that needs to change if you want to banish the ‘moobs’ for good.  You might want to try increasing your Zinc intake too (please consult with your doctor or GP), as this has been known to battle the natural dip in testosterone levels.  Most fruits and vegetables contain Zinc, but the following do contain a bit more than most:  blackberries and kiwi fruit, peas, potatoes, corn and sweet potato

Exercise is next.  The majority of us already know that we don’t get enough basic aerobic exercise.  Prolonged aerobic exercise is the simplest way of aiding your balanced diet to banish excess fat.  You are the only person who will get you off your backside and starting to move, so imagine how much healthier you’ll feel, not only in body but in your mind too, and start now to try and make a difference.

Please do be patient though.  One trip to the gym or a walk around the park munching a carrot is not going to noticeably change anything.  You’re going to need to pace yourself and wait for the hard work to pay dividends, but if you stick at it, you’ll usually see some improvements within the first couple of weeks.  You’ll need to continue the new regime though if you’re to banish the boobs for good.

Exercising the chest muscles themselves is good too, because it will build the muscle there, and in effect ‘stretch’ that part of your body, so lessening the appearance of the moobs themselves.   Exercise alone though is unlikely to get rid of all of that stored fat, so try hard to improve your diet too.

There.  That’s it really.  As I’ve already said, it’s not rocket science.  Try to improve your diet and take more exercise.  The results will make you feel better inside and look better outside.  You can’t knock that.  You’ll thank yourself for making the change.  I did.

  1. Nice informaion for men.

  2. Interesting. Man or woman exercise is a must for everyone over 40. Both have fluctuating hormones that affect the metabolism.

  3. Nice informative article. Diet and exercise are the key to a healthy looking you. Well done.

  4. Good article, basically man boobs are excess fat and excess fat is best removed through combination of exercise and diet. Naturally you can also use surgery but that is expensive, painful and offers no guarantee your man boobs will not return.
