Acupressure Points for Weight Loss

Acupressure can help accelerate weight loss and reduce hunger cravings. Here are the best acupressure points for weight loss.

Acupressure is the ancient art of healing by stimulating pressure points in the body. Applying pressure to certain points releases a burst of endorphins from the pituitary gland and hypothalamus of the brain. Acupressure has been used for almost 5,000 years to treat metabolic disorders, relieve stress and pain, and alleviate illness.

Acupressure can help with weight loss. There’s no acupressure point specifically to lose weight, but several different acupressure points can help reduce problems associated with losing weight, such as food cravings, metabolic imbalance, hunger pangs and depression.

Best Acupressure Points for Weight Loss

Stimulate the acupressure point for at least thirty seconds. For optimal results, hold pressure for two minutes or longer. Use your thumb or forefinger to apply firm pressure to the acupressure point.

Breathe deeply and regularly while applying acupressure. Don’t use acupressure if the acupressure point is over a mole, wart, varicose vein, cut, bruise or abrasion in the skin.

1. Under the Nose

To suppress hunger while losing weight, stimulate the cleft between your nose and upper lip. Pinch the cleft firmly between your thumb and forefinger to reduce hunger cravings.

Another of the acupressure points for weight loss is on the wrist crease, directly in line with the space between the fourth finger and the little finger. Apply firm pressure for thirty seconds or more.

3. On the Little Finger

4. Inside Forearm

This weight loss acupressure point is located in the middle of the forearm, about two thumb widths above the crease of the wrist. There’s a point on each side of the body. Stimulate both points for best results.

5. Top of the Head

To help balance the metabolism and accelerate weight loss, stimulate the acupressure point for weight loss at the top of the head. The acupressure point is just behind the hairline.

6. Behind the Earlobe

One of the best acupressure points to help lose weight is just behind the earlobe. The acupressure point lies in the hollow between the jawbone and the skull. This area of the skull is known as the mastoid process.

7. Base of the Skull

Another good acupressure point for weight loss is directly below the mastoid process. The weight loss acupressure point is approximately in a line with the angle of the lower jawbone. The point is on the far side of the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscle. The SCM runs from behind/below the ear to the hollow at the base of the throat.

You can also massage the point halfway between your navel and breastbone to suppress the hollow hungry feeling in the pit of the stomach. Use the thumb to massage in a circular motion for at least thirty seconds.

Combine acupressure treatment with a healthy diet and regular exercise to help lose weight and keep it off.
