Can You Help Me Lose Weight?

I am so unmotivated, lazy, I have no self-discipline, and I’m hugely addicted to chocolate (I can eat a family size bar of chocolate every night). I know how to diet, and I know how to eat well, but mentally I can’t motivate myself. Can you help me sort out my mental state?

I would say that about 98% of my clients that come to me too train them, feel the same way, many of them suffering for years. My goal as their trainer is to change their way of thinking, because there is nothing wrong with their, or your mental state. What has happened is the feeling of being out of control, that when we can’t control our actions, we spiral, and we feel helpless. You need to dig from within, and also gather up a support system, l can’t stress this enough, either buddy up with a friend, family member, join an on-line support group, or hire a personal trainer. Everywhere you go from here, needs to be about YOU, because you need to take control of your life. Finding the motivation, that part needs to come from you, from within, from something important to you, so what’s yours going to be?

Once you find your motivation, whether you use anger, someone who put you down, the huge muscles you will gain, or just knowing how much healthier you will be, then you have your starting point. If you don’t get started somehow, take those first steps to get moving, to feel good about yourself, that motivation can’t take hold, because you need a sense of accomplishment, some results to continue forward. You need to snap out of it! Wake up! Stop thinking about a mental connection, because once you get going, that will no longer be your drag, but you will have a new focus, and you will evolve, and build a superior inner strength! You say that you know how to diet and eat well, most people say that, but obesity is on the rise, so what’s going on? We are all educated enough to know the difference between healthy foods and the bad choices, but it doesn’t change our decisions, and the fact is, we are getting fatter as a nation. You need to take responsibility for yourself, because being unmotivated, lazy, and having no self-discipline, that needs to change, it begins with you, or you’ll never lose weight. 

I see this in clients all the time, and I teach them(force them), to pull themselves together, to take control, by taking action. You can’t expect to lose weight without working out, eating right, getting proper amounts of rest, doing your journal work, whatever it takes, you got to start moving! You’re worried about your mental state? Do what you are supposed to do, get the work done, and you won’t ever be worried about that again. You’re eating chocolate in family sized portions?! You are sabotaging yourself, and you are hating yourself, is this the way you want to go on in your life? If you can’t eat a normal sized bar, don’t buy it ever again, you won’t have it to eat, as simple as that. I don’t believe in deprivation, but do you realize the calories and fat you are eating in chocolate alone each night? Give it up! Once you begin your plan of action, especially these four together: training, nutrition, rest, and journal writing, you’ll switch your focus onto accomplishing your goals, and you’ll make strides in your confidence, you’ll believe more in yourself, and you’ll be stronger in so many ways!
