Cardio First Thing in the Morning for Greater Weight Loss
Studies have shown that cardio first thing in the morning helps increase weight loss.
I am a morning person so for me this concept of doing cardiovascular activity first thing in the morning to increase my weight loss was not something hard to adjust to. In fact it has helped me get up a bit earlier and get my day going. I’ll explain in a little bit.
However, there really is nothing like getting up as the sun is rising and planning my day ahead.
I have read many studies that have proven that performing some type of cardiovascular activity first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, has shown a greater reduction in fat in the average person. This in turn leads to weight loss.
Me being the average person I was thrilled when I heard this news because I already get up early in the morning to get ready for my day. Hearing this was just an added bonus to my morning. By now many of you think I am crazy at looking at this as a bonus. (Is he nuts? Waking up early is not an added bonus?) Read on as you see it is and can be for you.
Now that I know doing cardio in the morning is a good thing for weight loss, my next question was, what kind of cardio should I be doing? Should I be running, walking, jogging, hiking, biking, and the list goes on and on? What I found was that the answer was all of the above!
In other words pick one that gets you excited to get out of bed in the morning and to perform the cardiovascular exercise. I enjoy walking, well ok the dog enjoys me walking him, but I will save that story for another time. By combining walking the dog and doing it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, it was like hitting two birds with one stone. If you love birds do not take the saying personally, it is only a metaphor. Do not email me thinking I hate birds as I can assure you that I do not.
What I also found, beyond the health and weight loss benefits of performing cardiovascular activities first thing in the morning is that it gets me going for the rest of the day. I feel refreshed and invigorated. When I did some research as to why this is the case, all studies pointed to getting more oxygen to the brain and to my muscles.
I found that I had more energy throughout the day, got my work done faster and stayed more focused. I can not guarantee that you will see all the same affects that I have, but I am sure if you give it a try for four weeks you will definitely notice some positive benefits from performing cardiovascular activity first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
