If you want to fit into your new dress for an upcoming function or to get rid of additional pounds you have put on during the holidays, it is actually not hard to achieve this goal. Here are five simple healthy eating tips that will help you drop five or more pounds at the end of six weeks. Go for it!
Removing Mayonnaise and Cheese from Your Menu
It is common that most people prefer to add the slice of cheese and some mayonnaise to their sandwich without knowing that these acts may add to extra calorie intake. Do you know that by removing cheese and mayonnaise on your sandwich you can actually save almost 200 calories per sandwich? Instead of mayonnaise and cheese, you can replace them with mustard which equals to 5 calories per teaspoon. Not only omitting from your sandwich, but save calories at every opportunity you get by omitting mayonnaise and cheese from your daily menu.
Reducing the Intake of Margarine or/and Butter
Perhaps you do not know that reducing even one tablespoon of regular butter or margarine from your potatoes or breakfast toast each day can make a big difference on your weight. To reduce excessive calorie intake, you can purchase those butter or margarine products which are “trans-fat free”, “zero fat” or “reduced fat” soft spread varieties instead of the full-fat varieties. In fact, the less-fat varieties are approximately half the calories than the full-fat one.
Keeping to One Small Serving
If you are serious in dropping additional pounds you have put on during the holidays, you need to trim calories by accurately measuring each serving. For your information, serving size varies so please check on the food label of food you have put into your bowl.
If you are consuming breakfast cereal, check for package labeling before putting cereal into your bowl (it is usually about a cup). This great tip will help save you 150 calories by cutting back on your cereal and another additional savings from the milk equivalent to at least 50 calories.
Do Not Put EXTRAS into Your Mouth
Sometimes, you are not aware of putting the EXTRAS into your mouth that can unconsciously add to significant increased in pounds. That means without realizing, you eat more than what your body needs. A munch off your child’s plate or a naughty bite from anyone’s dessert can add to some major calories before you know it. So, next time, be mindful of your action or else you will become obese! Additionally, be careful of what’s inside your soft drinks (such as diet coke, energy drink), tea, coffee, alcohol or any artificial drink as there might be much calories there.
Avoiding Late-night Snack or Night Eating Habits
For many of us, munching on snacks, chips, potatoes, donuts, cookies, ice-cream, chocolate, to name a few, is also regarded as the perfect time for the evening snack time or/and nighttime snack. This bad eating habit has been identified as the main cause to many modernized diseases like obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and cardiovascular related diseases as well.
Well, you can gobble the snacks but make sure that its intake not to be exceeded 150 calories a day. The problem most people are facing today is that on average they gobble way more than 250 calories as snacks especially after 8 p.m. The only thing you can do is to change your eating habit and also to skip the nighttime snack.
