It is true that fruits can help people succeed in their weight loss goals. Incorporating fruits into one’s diet can be very beneficial. Fruits contain large amounts of water and can be easily digested. Our body contains 80% of water, so we need more water containing foods to help succeed in weight loss since they can be broken down by the digestive system very quickly. Fruits also have low sodium and when eaten frequently in a substantial quantity, you can have less water retention of the body; large amounts of sodium can lead to weight gain by retaining water.

One’s body can extract energy from the glucose in fruits through oxygen. The waste is developed and carbon dioxide is released through the lungs by breathing. This energy can be extracted very quick and easily since it usually only takes about 15 minutes for fruit juice to digest and 30 minutes for whole fruits. Fruits consists of many vitamins, minerals, and plant phytochemicals, which can greatly benefit and improve one’s health. Fruits greatly help fill the stomach faster and decreases the chance of consuming high calorie foods. They increase energy for exercising and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, cancers, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, and slows down the aging process.

It is recommended to eat at least two to four servings of fruit a day. One serving of fruit is equal to one cup or either the size of a tennis ball if it is fresh, a half cup if it is dried, and a three-fourths of a cup if it is juiced. Some ways to incorporate fruit into one’s diet is to add dried fruit to cereal, create a fruit salad with favorite fruits and yogurt along with candied nuts, cook recipes that contains fruit, drink fruit juices; add healthy toppings to fruit such as honey, fat free whipped cream, and cinnamon; and add fruit to main courses such as ham, pork chops, and chicken.
