Healthy Choices: Make Smarter, Simple, Creative Decisions to Save Your Waistline
Throughout the day, we are faced with a multitude of food choices. What choices are you making?
Purchase a tall coffee beverage and you get to choose from a wide variety of condiments. Indulge in a rich creamer and you’ve most likely packed on about 10 fat grams before the day’s barely begun. Think smart and choose a nonfat creamer and you’re waistline will gratefully thank you. Enjoy a bowl of cereal, a muffin or maybe a bagel. Each of these decisions sets the ball in motion for the way you feel the rest of the day.
The clock chimes noon and lunchtime rolls around bringing to mind the vast array of food decisions that has expanded a hundredfold. So what’s a person to do when it comes to maintaining a healthy diet without excluding the fundamental pleasure of eating something delicious?
Simple small changes truly make all the difference.
Every step you take in the direction of your dreams and goals is one step closer to where you want to be. Don’t discount any effort you make, no matter how insignificant it may seem to you in isolation.
What simple changes should you make?
Creativity is your greatest ally. With time you will begin to see areas where you can save money and your health by making easy changes. To get you started on this path to your well being, I will share with you some ideas that work very well for me!
Skip the dip and opt for a weight loss drop!
Oftentimes people feel that they are being healthy if they snack on vegetables dipped in their favorite creamy dip. What they don’t realize is that after they’ve finished a whole platter of crispy carrots, celery, and bell peppers, they’ve also consumed over 30 grams or more of fat! This is the equivalent of a eating a greasy hamburger from the corner McDonald’s; don’t let this happen to you!
You can still enjoy healthy snacks by finding flavorful dips that are fat free.
One of my favorite choices is using non-fat yogurt as a dip alternative. Remember, yogurts come in a wide array of flavors nowadays. In fact, yogurt is a wonderful substitute for many high fat foods. Put away the sour cream, add yogurt to your baked potatoes. Forget the mayo and spread some yogurt on your bread. If this causes your bread to become soggy, bring a small cup of yogurt and dip your sandwich in the carton or bring a little spoon and place some on each bit before you chew.
Lose the salad dressing and choose instead a salsa topping.
Like dipping your vegetables in high fat dips, drowning your leafy greens in heavy salad dressing will only work against your diet efforts. Instead, find tasty, no fat alternatives like salsa. I love fresh salsa on my salads because not only are you cutting out the fat and calories you are gaining the great benefits of tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and whatever other vegetable that is included in the content of the salsa you choose.
Salsa is also packed with flavor and a wide variety of choices.
Choose mild for those who don’t do well with spicy foods. Choose medium or hot to add even more spice to your life. Think the benefits stop there? You’ll be pleased to know that studies have shown that spicy foods help to boost your metabolism. So, in addition to replacing fattening dressings with a fresh salsa you are also speeding up the process of shedding away unwanted calories.
So don’t give up!
Losing weight and keeping or reaching your perfect figure is easier and more manageable than you think. Creating new ways to enjoy your diet to stay as healthy as possible is a process that becomes easier, more attainable, and fun with each passing day!

I was a Lostash till I passed age 40–now, I eat less and weigh more! Good reminder with the Salsa. I gained a LOT of my weight with dip, ice cream and butter.
