Help a “Fat” Friend

All you needed to know about helping a friend to lose weight.

Are you the sort of person that snipes about your friends behind your back for their weight? OR, would you rather help the person lose weight? If you are the latter, there are things that you can do in order to help them lose weight in a safe and healthy manner.
One of the first things that you should recognise when helping a friend that is overweight is not to comment nastily about their weight problem. Their self confidence may already be at an all time low and by sniping about them, you will encourage them to jump further into this lack of confidence. Try and encourage them to pursue physical activity with you.
Why not ask your friend if they would like to sign up to a particular sport with them such as basketball or netball. This can bring you closer together as friends and can also you both to become fit and healthy and aid in weight loss.
Why not go walking with your friend? There are plenty of country walks that can be enjoyed, and if this is not your cup of tea, why not take a long walk around a shopping mall and similar places and then go for a nice cup of coffee? This walking is a great weight bearing activity that has been proven to be very effective with weight loss.
There are plenty of activities that the two of you can do in order to help you both achieve fit and healthy bodies and also to lose weight. If you have weight to lose as well as your friend, you could both sign up to a gym and take advantage of the many free trials that gyms offer from time to time. Working out together can be fun and people will find it much easier to lose the weight when accompanied by someone that is trusted.
Weight loss is made more difficult when names are accompanies and unfortunately name calling has become a regular part of being overweight. This can massively affect a person’s self confidence and make it even harder to get the incentive to go to the gym and lose the weight. By encouraging a friend that is overweight, you can help to raise confidence levels and by pursuing activities that are fun and enjoyable you can guarantee that this weight loss relationship will be a very long and happy one.
