High Fat, Low Carb Diary Day Three: What’s with the Sour Cream?

Another report from the early days of the diet struggle.

When on the high fat diet, I definitely abuse sour cream as a source of food… It is not even that I am a big fan of the taste or anything. It is all to do with my “love” for early (or any as a matter of fact) mornings, as well as breakfasts.

Pretty much all diets agree that breakfast is an important meal. One that shouldn’t be skipped, sometimes even called th emost important meal. Unfortunately for me at that time of the day whether I actually feel hungry or not, the last thing on my mind will be food preparation… Even the tiniest bit of extra sleep seems to be worth the loss. And doesn’t matter how much I try to argue with my morning brain, it always seems to win.

The worst bit is when you hit a point where you are actually feeling hungry but at the same time the very thought of food makes you naucious. I never really now if making yourself eat something while experiencing these mixed feelings is a good or bad thing. I guess it probably depends on the circumstances.

What this means is that having a “meal” that is easy to quickly eat, be that at home, or at work, is a blessing. Unfortunately this kind of product is even harder to find when on a high fat diet, as most dishes would be served hot and/or fried… If you have any ideas for high fat, no fuss breakfasts, please leave a comment, as my head seems to be empty.

There are a few other alternatives I can think of, however preparation on the day before, doesn’t seem to do it for me. But if you had the strong will to do it I guess you could try some of these:

  • hard boiled eggs – very good diet wise (many non low carb, and non high fat diets will recomend these), however you do need to either prepare them the day before or get up earlier to start cooking them
  • chicken salad – some chicken dishes can be server cold, especially with soses like mayonaise and maybe some chopped vegetables
  • celery with all kind of cream or cheese based dips – this one actually could be fearly easy to arrange, if you are willing to eat celery
  • just grab a sauasge and eat without cooking or frying – not very cost effective, this way sausaes disappear way to quickly… also this type of meat is not the most nutritious either, and people tend to look at you funny if you tried this outside of your home
