How to Avoid Gaining Weight This Season
With all the festivities around you, here are some tips to make you aware of your eating binges.
With all the joy and good cheer during the holiday season, watching your weight can either become impossible or a complete chore. But you need not wallow in yuletide sorrow.
Attitude
• Do not feel pressured to eat more just because it is Christmas. Some takes eating too
seriously during parties because they feel like it is expected of them or they think it is impolite
to refuse food from the zealous hosts.
• Give yourself one day or two in a week when you will eat normally or cut back on food intake.
Take note that cutting back does not mean not eating anything at all.
Party
• Eat a little something like crackers or fruit before you go to a party. Going to one on an empty
stomach will make you stuff yourself in order to appease your rumbling stomach.
• Buffet lines are a feast not only to the stomach but also to the eyes. Savor the dishes you really
like or try experimenting with your taste buds.
• Meet the other guests and talk with them. By doing so, you will be enjoying your conversations
more than the food before you.
Holiday Drinking
• Drink alcoholic beverages only after you have eaten. Alcohol lets down your guard
(including your will power) and increases hunger.
• Go with lower calorie drinks like white wine, vodka and gin.
Routine
• Eat regular meals and snacks. Do not think you would be cutting back on calories once
you skip meals and just snack on candies, cakes and other sweets all day.
• If you do regular exercises, add more to your routine or to the time devoted to exercise. Do
your best not to neglect this.
• The chilly air and Christmas atmosphere will make jogging and walking a fulfilling exercise.
But first, check your weather update and if conducive for such activities, go right ahead!
