How to Look Thinner Without Dieting

With that summer wedding just around the corner, you could be feeling a little self-conscious about the extra few pounds you have been meaning to lose. When you don’t have time to hit the gym, these little tricks will fool everyone including yourself into thinking you have already lost those pounds.

We know that exercise, proper diet, and hard work are always the best way to lose weight and staying fit but what do you do when an unexpected emergency takes you by surprise? If you have not had time to lose those few extra pounds, you can still look great and feel good about yourself with these quick tips and tricks.

Blend shades:

Try blending shades of the same colour. Combining different shades of darker colours such as grays, browns, dark greens, or any other dark colour you may choose will give a more slender illusion. Wearing the darkest colour from the waist down will make you look slimmer.

Dark is better:

Dark coloured clothing can be very flattering and elegant. Black is instantly slimming giving the illusion of a longer, leaner look. If you are feeling a little plain, jazz up your black outfit. Try using a colourful scarf, brooch or beads to dress your outfit up.

Balance is key:

If you must wear colours, wear the darker colour on the bottom and the light colour on top. Wearing a light colour on the bottom will make you look bottom heavy and off balance.

Long,sleek legs:

If your legs are heavy, wear shoes and hose or tailored pants and shoes the same colour. This will give your legs a longer more flattering look than breaking them up at the ankle.

Quickie Tips:

  • Wide bottomed pants make you look bigger than you really are so opt for tailored pants instead.
  • Wearing skirts or pants with pockets will make your middle look bigger.
  • Your dress or skirt hemline should rest at the narrowest part of your calf.
  • Slightly full skirts should be longer than they are wide.
  • Belts make you seem bigger and draw attention to your middle.
  • Pleated skirts or pants add bulk to your mid section.
  • Single-breasted jackets can give a slimming effect. Choose a jacket that is nipped in at the waist. This will create a waist even if you do not really have one.
  • If you have a round, full face scarves around your neck will make your face look wider while wearing a V-neck will enhance your facial features and give your neck a long graceful look.

Remember to stand tall. The way you carry your body makes all the difference in how you look. Practice in front of the mirror by studying your posture. Sometimes we are unaware of our drooping shoulders or slouched back and this will make it easier to see where we need improvement. Your lower back muscles support your stomach so by straightening your back you help pull your stomach up and in.

Your chest should be out and your stomach in, if this is not happening consider a proper fitting bra. No matter what your size you will look more flattering when you wear a properly fitted bra.

How to be sure you get the proper bra size:

Having someone to help you will ensure accurate measurements and a proper fit.

  1. Measure around your body where your bra band usually sits. Expel air from your lungs and while your lungs are empty, take your measurement. Round off the measurement number to the closest inch up or down.
  2. All bras come in even sizes so if your measurement is even, add 4 inches to it. If your measurement is an odd number, add 5 inches to it. The resulting number after adding your band measurement and the extra 4 or 5 inches will be your band size.
  3. To measure your cup size, stand straight with arms resting at your side. While wearing your bra, measure around your bust at the fullest point and again, round off the number to the nearest inch as you did for your band size.
  4. Subtract your smallest measurement from your largest measurement. The difference will determine your proper cup size. Example, if your band size is 38″ and your cup measurement is 34 inches; subtract 34 inches from 38 inches. The difference would be 4 inches. The fourth letter in the alphabet is D. Therefore, we have determined that the proper fitting bra for you would be 38D.

Step out in style while you are losing weight and feel good about yourself. No one will know the difference but you and the bedroom mirror.
