Increase Metabolic Rate and Burn Fat Without Having to Run Miles and Miles

If you follow this simple regimen, I can guarantee you’ll keep the body fat low and increase your metabolic rate forever!

Most people focus on long runs (jogging) to lose weight and reduce fat. No doubt jogging works and is great for those who love running. But, to tell you the scientific truth, many people are not genetically designed for long distance running. There is, however, an alternative to distance running (jogging) that is actually better for burning fat. And if you love running, it will satisfy that love! In addition, this type of running every human is designed for: Sprinting! So continue reading and you’ll get what I mean.

Research shows the the best way to burn body fat (and keep it off forever) is to increase metabolism. We can do this by building muscle. We all know that weight training will increase muscle. But did you know sprinting has also shown to increase muscle? Let’s look at some ways to help you increase metabolism by doing something everyone can do: sprint!

Of course trimming body fat can be helped by altering your eating habits. My other articles will help you to design your diet for better eating habits for weight/fat loss. Be careful, though! The term “diet” is a misnomer. Diet doesn’t always mean cut back. In fact, cutting back food may not help you lose weight or cut body fat over the long term. Long term is what we want. We want our body to change the way it deals with body fat. Diet will help, but proper diet is better when combined with physical workouts/activities.

You can actually make your body burn more overall fat than it normally would if make a few simple changes. As I mentioned above, running/jogging for miles on end can do this, but not unless you continue to run miles on end. A more sound (and practical) approach would be to do intense bursts of anaerobic activity, namely sprinting. The workout is simple: for about 20 seconds you sprint hard, then jog/walk fast for another 20 seconds, and repeat 5 times. If you train like this, your body will believe it has become necessary to sprint for survival. Sprinting requires a large amount of energy and your body will prepare itself to always be ready for a life-or-death sprint. Your body will produce energy ready for fast burning, and in the meantime will burn more calories than it usually does at rest. In addition, your leg muscles will increase. This is also part of the physiology involved in practicing sprinting.

Don’t believe it? Check out any sprinters physique. The second major influence is your training habits. You need to focus on performing some intense work at least three times per week. I am sure this sounds low to many of you. In short, instead of jogging for miles on end each day, do sprints every other day for a few minutes and you will reap benefits that will astonish you!

So if you want to build muscle, sprinting actually increases the amount of growth hormone your body produces, thus, sprinting coupled with sound resistance training is your ticket to burning fat while feeding the muscle. New research is fairly conclusive: sprinting has more value than distance running for overall good health. Try it for a month and you’ll see a difference.
