January: New Year, New You
Hints that will help you attain your diet goals.
Tired of all the fad diets and hype about weight lose. A healthful eating plan can help you achieve your goals. Taking small, baby steps makes the process manageable.
The first step is knowing how many calories you require to attain your desired weight. The second of course is to have a plan that you can stick with in the long run. A sample of a healthy eating plan goes something like this; 4 servings of protien, 5 servings of carbohydrates, 4 servings of fruit, 4 servings of vegetables, 3 servings of fat, total about 1400 calories.
You do not need to change your eating habits all at one time. Start with small steps that are easy to stick with. If you set small goals along the way and reward yourself when you attain them, it will be easier to stay on track.
Let’s get started. Clean everything from your cupboards that’s not on your new plan. Shop and replace these items with the new foods you have chosen. Purchase a healthy cookbook and plan your daily menu’s, breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the week. Try new recipes to keep boredom at bay.
Hints: Add one each week.
- Keep a food journal
- Ask yourself if you are truely hungry
- Use smaller plates
- Measure your food servings
- Build your meals around the fruits and veggies
- Twice a week add fish to the menu
- Make one meal a week meatless (beans are a good source of protien)
- Don’t drink high calorie drinks ( water is a better choice)
- Start your day with a good breakfast
- Have fruit for dessert
You can do anything that you want to do. Including a healthier lifestyle if you set your mind to it, and take one step at a time.
