Losing Weight: Use Your Clothes as Motivation

How to do so.

If you’re currently attempting to lose weight, whether for the first time or for the thousanth time, you might well be wondering how on Earth you can keep yourself motivated when times get a little bit tough. Luckily, there are lots of ways that you can do this, and this means that you should be able to keep it up right until the end. Using your clothes, which are things that you always have in the house, can be a great help, and this article will explain how you could use them in order to help you lose the weight that you need to in order to become happier and healthier.

If you haven’t always been overweight, and have some clothes left over from when you were actually a healthy size, then this can be fantastic motivation to get back into shape again. Most of us have some kind of clothes that used to fit us but no longer do, and simply trying this on every so often to see how it fits can be a brilliant way of seeing how far you’ve come, and how much more weight you might have to lose in order to get to your eventual goal. You should hang up the item that you would like to get back into the most in a place where you have to go past several times each day, as this will help to remind you of the reasons that you’ve chosen to lose the weight in the first place. If you don’t have any clothes from the past, either because you didn’t choose to keep any or because you’ve never been “slim”, then it makes sense to buy something that you would love to fit into at some point. Ideally, you shouldn’t be choosing anything that is more than a couple of dress sizes smaller than the one that you’re currently wearing, as you don’t know what your size is going to be once you’ve lost the weight, but the motivation of being able to slim into something would almost certainly be worth it.

You should also keep the clothes that you wore at your biggest as well as at your smallest. I have done this and I have things that look like a tent on me now. In fact, there are many things that I can’t believe I ever have to buy because they look so big to me now. It would help for you to try these clothes on maybe every couple of months, as this would mean that you would be able to see how much weight you’d lost in comparison to what you used to look like. You should also make sure that you take photographs of you at different weights, as you will find that these are nice to look at when you’re struggling to see the difference that you’ve made in yourself. Put a photograph of you at your biggest on your mirror, and this should help for you to see just how far you’ve come.

  1. This is exactly what I am doing right now. I bought a new shirt just this week but was very disappointed because….well it fits well, just good enough…But I hate seeing my bulging stubborn love handles. I want to wear it at the right time…don’t know when it will happen. Nice post!

  2. What a great idea! I already have lots of skinny me clothes. Instead of getting rid of them I can try fitting into them again.
