Losing Weight: Whatever You Eat

How is it possible to lose weight no matter what you eat?

If you’re trying to lose weight at the moment then you’re more than likely thinking about the ways in which you could do that without having to deprive yourselves of the foods that you like to eat. Luckily, in order to lose weight, you don’t particularly need to stop eating the foods that you enjoy.

Every day that you’re alive, your body needs a certain amount of calories just to do it’s every day functions. This is called your basic metabolic rate. Putting it simply, this is the amount of calories that you would burn if you were in a coma. There are websites online that you can find out this information from, and it is important that you work out what your BMR is. This is the amount of calories that you should be aiming to eat on any given day.

Counting calories is really important, as you don’t really want to be going anywhere past your BMR if at all possible. You should find that the calories are found relatively easily on the back of packages, so that you won’t be in any doubt about the number of calories that are in your food at any one time. The good news is that it really doesn’t matter which foods these calories are made up from. A pound is made up from 3,500 calories of energy. Whether this energy is 3,500 of apples or 3,500 calories of chocolate, it doesn’t make any difference at all. Of course, chocolate is much more calorie dense than apples, so you would be able to eat much less chocolate to make up this value than you’d be able to eat apples. However you make up the calories, the effects are still the same. This is good news if you don’t think that you could live without your daily fix of chocolate or crisps.

Once you’re eating your BMR worth of calories each day, you need to concentrate on losing the weight. Any exercise that you do during the course of the day, if you’re eating your BMR, will create a deficit between the number of calories consumed and the number burned. You want to make the number burned much higher than the number consumed. Even just going about your daily business is very helpful as pottering around can burn a large amount of calories over the course of the week. If you manage to stick to this, you should find that you are soon able to tell the difference on the scales between the way you were before you started counting, and the way that you are now.
