Muscle and Fat Loss: An in-Depth Explanation
I will now talk about muscle and fat loss, here is some you need to know about your body and how it works.
Muscle
Muscles is made up of 2 types of fibers, slow twitch (type 1) and fast twitch (type 2), both are different.
- Slow Twitch (type 1) are used while doing AEROBIC exercises, they can take exercise longer because they fire slowly and use oxygen in a more efficient way.
- Fast Twitch (type 2) this fibers create short but strong and fast burst of energy, this are the type of fibers used in ANAEROBIC exercises.
Now that I explained that I’m going to explain how muscle grows, when muscles move something they generate a force, when you put a heavier force than what its used to the body adapts by growing your muscle fibers, they grow because when you but a big strain on your muscles (lifting weights) the muscle fibers get little microscopic tears, when those little tears heal up bigger and a little more adapted to the new strain you are putting on the muscle, how fast you heal depends on the amount of protein, testosterone, and other anabolic factors.
Fat Loss
So you want to have those ripped abs, define muscles and great vascularity for the summer, but there is a layer of fat covering them and your asking yourself, what can i do to get ripped, well most people make the big mistake of eating too little, this happens because when your body sees that its not getting enough of its needs, the body slows down its metabolism this happens because you go into whats called “survival mode” when on survival mode the body tries to store as much fat as it can because it doesn’t know when it might have it next meal, the body is a fat burning machine by itself, burning an estimated 2000-2500 calories a day, when you stop eating the body gets what it needs from fat and muscle, 1 pound of fat = 3500 calories.
the solution, lower your calories, don’t stop them, try to keep the calories around 1500, and also exercise (duh) but i don’t mean just walk the dog, i mean go for a jog, or just walking, join a gym or a fitness club, or just a sport, keep yourself active, everything you do, from moving a finger to pushing a pick up truck burns calories.
