My Journey to Lose 60lbs – Weeks Eight & Nine – Juice Diet and 7Lbs Off!
I’m back on my weight loss plan and I just started a juice fast! I’m only drinking fruit and vegetable juice for at least 10 days, and I’ve already lost 7lbs in two days!
WEEKS 1&2
WEEKS 3&4
WEEKS 5, 6, & 7
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Hello, Nick Kern here. I’m the Founder and Editor in Chief of the Cooking/Food How-To Blog – EatingInBed.com. I’ve been writing about food, health, music, movies, video games, and anything generally entertaining since 2009, and have had articles published on several sites across the vast internet landscape. My main passions are health and food though, and today I’m here to talk about my current weight loss efforts. I want to go from 220lbs to 160lbs, and I want to do it healthily!
In week 8 I continued to do my crunches, oblique crunches, knee touches, pushups, and cardio, but I wasn’t seeing the results I was hoping for and decided to start a juice diet as seen in the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. Week 9 was preparation for the Juice Diet and definitely did it wrong, I ate fast food, pizza, all kinds of things I shouldn’t have, and It definitely made me feel HORRIBLE during the first two days of the juice fast, but it’s day 3 right now and I’m feeling a lot better. My head’s starting to clear up, I’m not getting cold sweats, and I’m starting to regain my energy! When I started the juice diet I was at 212lbs and I just stepped on the scale this morning to see the digits 205 flashing at me! It was very exciting and I’m looking forward to my results by day 10, but if they’re not as good as I’m hoping I’ll continue the juice diet until I get the results I’m looking for. Tomorrow will be day 4 and I can start working out again, I plan on doing 30 minutes of cardio, and today I’m going to sneak in some leg raises and crunches. I would love to be below 200lbs by the time I’m done this fast.
Do you want to go on a Juice Diet?
What you need:1 Juicer
Is that it? Yeah, you just need to go out an buy a Juicer, I went to Walmart and got the General Electric $50 juicer, and it’s been working great. Definitely make $50 the least you’ll spend, because anything lower than that won’t extract enough juice to make it worth while and you’ll end up spending $100’s in veggies/fruit without the gain or loss you’re looking for.
As far as fruits and vegetables go, try to buy everything, but make sure you have dark leafy greens like kale, spinach, mustard, turnip greens, etc. As far as fruit go I recommend always having apples and oranges because they’re cheap and you can get big bags of them. I also recommend carrots because of their high juice yield. I’m going to get arugula today which should add a nice peppery nutty flavor to a juice, try to keep in mind the flavors of the juices you’re mixing!

So get yourself a juicer, and then start combining fruits and vegetables to create new and awesome juices. I definitely recommend avoiding broccoli or brussel sprouts unless you plan on masking them with a healthy amount of fruit, my favorites so far are beets and honeydew, they deliver a lot of juice for a little amount of money and have powerful flavors. If you start this diet and are feeling extremely fatigued from a lack of protein, buy a Naked protein smoothie, but never have more than 1 drink a day with added protein or any chemically modified proteins. If at all possible a vegan/veggie protein supplement would be best.
Day 4 should be the best day of the diet as I’ll be able to get my excercises back in and I’ve started making a fruit juice and vegetable juice that I mix together in various increments. Today I had a 50/50 fruit/veggie juice, a 25/75 fruit to veggie mixture, a fruit smoothie, and I’ll continue with a 75/25 veggie to fruit mixture next. Be sure to combine the two so you get your needed fruit sugars with your vegetable nutrients or you’ll end up with a crazy sugar spike or slump from too much or too little fruit juice.
Are you going on a juice diet, do you have any tips or pointers or recipes? Do you have any weightloss tips that would be helpful? I would love to hear some feedback!
