On-The-Go Friendly and Stress-free Diet: A 40-year-Old Diet Veteran Regroups
How to lose and maintain your weight in this faced-paced life that we live in. It’s easy and not very expensive.
I have spent most of my life studying, trying, and disclaiming many of the fad and doctor recommended diets that are out there. I have led a Love Hunger Weight Loss Support Group, based on the book: “Love Hunger”. I joined some weight loss groups, but I found that I went up and down in weight for years! From veteran dieter to another, we have a lot, if not similar, experience in these areas. We are bombarded almost daily through the TV, magazines, pamphlets, and the internet. They all claim to have the secret! We are all looking for an easy affordable secret that fits well into to our faced paced life style. We are all individuals with different levels of activity and health, and therefore, one diet and exercise program will not work for every person. I catered a weight loss program for myself, and it is working! You can do it too!
What’s the Real Skinny on Weight Loss?
I found that knowing the amount of calories that I need to eat, and I writing the name and amount of absolutely everything that I eat in there gives me awareness. If I can’t find the calorie amount in my cheap calorie counter, I use the good old free internet to find it. Again, this is not a one size fits all world. Here are some suggestions to help you become more successful: small spiral, journals, planners, or free online calorie trackers. Again, there is power in knowing what you eat and taking responsibility for it. Some people keep track of the exercise and daily food thoughts too. I personally don’t have time for that, but some people do. Do what works for you!
After finding out that I could only eat 1576 calories a day to maintain my weight I was shocked. More astoundingly, I discovered that 1376 calories a day was the highest amount I could eat if I wanted to lose weight. I decided to try to exercise, and then I could eat more. As I perused through my freezer and pantry, an old light bulb came back on. I thought about serving and portion control. I used to know this so easily that I didn’t have to measure or read the calories. Well, now I have too! The other revelation I had was that I had to give up soda or count it! At first, I was just counting and eating stuff that was not so healthy. But, as I adjusted to this idea, I found a simple plan that worked for me, it wasn’t so expensive, and it was fairly easy to follow. Much of what is on my grocery list below is on-the-go friendly and basically stress free. Being honest and realistic is key. You are never fooling yourself. Be true to yourself and good to yourself: write it down an own it.
What About Exercise?
Again, there isn’t a quick fix here. What works for me, a daytime teacher and part time night GED instructor, is walking outside or walking on my garage sale treadmill 3 times a week for ½ hour to an hour. I do it every Mon., Wed., and Fri. religiously. I exercise through my periods; I don’t let them get me down. I found that I feel better when I do. I am a morning person; so, I do it right away. I can watch the news or taped show while I am working out. I drink a lot of water, and I check my heart rate too. I found that they gym didn’t work for me. The weren’t open early enough, and I didn’t have time to shower and make it to work. I couldn’t afford it. I am living on this, and I feel great! Before starting a new diet and exercise program, see a doctor to ensure that you are a good candidate for what you choose.
