Six Pack Abs? Then Get to Work!
Ah, six pack abs! We all want those! The ever-present visuals of great abs in media make us want to get a good set of our own. But what does it take to get six pack abs?

Transform your body with great abs! (Wikipedia)
Abs olutely Hard Work
First of all, those of you reading this should know that getting great six pack abs is absolutely hard work, and this isn’t limited to physical exertion either. The process also involves a lot of mental and emotional hurdles. But if you have the desire to get six pack abs, then you are off to a good start.
Ab out Body Type
The next thing you should do is to evaluate your body type. Basically, there are three: ectomorph (thin), mesomorph (muscular), and endomorph (fat). Your capacity to produce six pack abs depends much on what type of body you have. If you are thin, you will have it easy working your body to achieve a satisfactory set of ab muscles. If you’re already muscular, you should already have a good set packed in that midsection; the only problem will be how to whittle the fat that hides them. If you’re fat, let’s face it, you’ve really got your work cut out for you! But again, if you have the desire and will to succeed, it’s always possible to trim your midsection enough to fit into your old jeans.
Ab ide by Your Diet
It’s true what they say that “you are what you eat.” If you don’t believe it, consider how you get fat if you do eat a lot of fat. The body has to put the fat somewhere if it’s not able to use it for energy, so it keeps it around, usually in the midsection just in case it’s needed for a “rainy day.” But then in our modern society, food is practically available everywhere, thus the old-fashioned way of storing fat for lean times is generally no longer applicable unless we’re in the middle of a disaster. If you want your abs to stand out rather than hide behind fat, then eat low fat and low calorie foods like salads. If you need to bulk up your ab muscles, then eat high protein food or support your diet with proper supplementation. Do not forget to eat a balanced diet. Essential nutrients (basically vitamins, minerals, and amino acids) are always important for overall health.
Ab stain from Laziness
Let’s face it! The only way to get those abdominal muscles in shape is to not be lazy! The fat in your body will not get burned off and the muscles of your midsection will not get “ripped” if you do not work your body! The formula to getting a leaner body is simple: just burn more calories than what you usually get from eating. This means you must exercise even when you don’t have the time to go to a gym. That means improvising. Do resistance exercises that target the abs and promote calorie-burning. At the very least, do a hundred crunches every day! Yes, that’s what it takes to get six pack abs! Don’t forget to schedule rest days. This is what you must do to make your abs stand out. Counting calories is helpful and gives you precision in your methods, but you don’t have to keep track of them if the task is too much of a burden. Just let your mirror do the talking, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s got the greatest abs of all?”

These tips are also based on my own experience in getting in shape. Of course if you cease your efforts, your body will slump back to how it was before. At least it’s good to know you can always change it when necessary. That’s what athletes do.!

It has been said that great abs are made not in the gym but in the kitchen. So watching your diet is most important..
