Some Workout Tips for Those Who Hate Exercising
Exercising is essential to weight loss – either love it or lose it.
If you are anything like me, you would never consider exercising as a favorite pastime. There are people who absolutely, downright, HATE working out! But working out is an essential, if not, crucial, part of a healthy lifestyle. Without exercise, you can almost kiss losing weight adios (I say almost because there are ways of losing weight without so much effort HERE…but that’s beside the point…). Having said that, here are some tips to get you to love exercising.
First, try finding an exercise that you like to do. It goes without saying of course that you should work out all of your body, but if you despise one kind of exercise, then look for another to take its place. You don’t have to get down and do crunches to strengthen your core muscles or do lunges to work your lower body out. You don’t even have to run– replace it with swimming and cycling. Find a more enjoyable activity to substitute normal routines.
Like I mentioned, find activities that you like to do– make them work for your body. Say, you like fiddling with your garden, try doing some exercises which involve raking or try mowing your lawn by hand. If you enjoy the winter weather, go ice skating or sledding with friends. It doesn’t matter what you like to do, you can still find ways to get some exercising done. Or go get yourself a Wii and work out while having lots of fun.
Another great tip to liking exercising (and I’ve already mentioned it HERE) is to find a training partner. Working with an exercising buddy can help you stay motivated. With a partner, you can have more fun– you can try tennis, or squash. Challenge each other. Help each other stay focused. Trainers (like Tom Venuto) can also provide this for you while at the same time show you new and fun exercises to help you avoid getting bored or feeling overwhelmed at the gym.
Finally, you may also try taking classes. Exercise classes, apart from being really fun, are also great ways to meet new people, learn new exercises, and stay motivated. Most gyms offer low-cost or free classes with membership so check out your options at your local community center.
Staying motivated if you hate exercising can be quite difficult. You need to set your goals and stay focused. Don’t quit. Exercising (coupled with a healthy diet and a positive outlook) will help you lose weight. Make exercising fun and you will get results.
