The Truth About Losing Weight

No gain (or loss) without pain. Losing weight is not easy.

With obesity a growing threat in America today, many people are turning to popular fad diets, which are as numerous and popular as they are ineffective or unhealthy. “Dieting” has become an overused term, when we should really just be concentrating on “food control” and that old fashion thing called “exercise.”

The Problem Grows with Our Stomachs

Fast food, tv dinners, junk food, oily, salty, fatty foods which make people want more the more they eat. With so many unhealthy, convenient choices available to Americans it is no wonder we’re taking on the “worldly look”(thinner at the poles, rounder about the middle). In a day America consumes about 100 acres of pizza, and that only ranks the third most favorite food in the country! Think of all the calories! It’s insane! Processed foods even have certain chemicals and preservatives in them which make you crave them, making you buy more, making you EAT more! And this is how you get fat.

There’s No Such Thing as a Miracle Diet

My no means should anyone be under the assumption that “diets” are special for some reason. Every single one of them revolves around cutting calories, and lowering caloric in take. While some diets say that eating a certain food, like grape fruit or cabbage, it is still the basic idea of “these foods are low in calories.” Other diets which you pay for certain foods provided by their company, are generally tiny portions, which again is a lower amount of calories. What it comes down to it “you eat less, you loose weight” plain and simple.

Stop Sitting in Front of the Tube

Get active! Dieting is a waste of time if you don’t exercise. When you exercise, and do it regularly, you burn off excess fat calories. Eating the right foods is fine, but it’s important to get your blood flowing, and sweating, sorry, but it’s a good thing! Aerobic exercise 30 minutes a day, and every day a week, accompanied by good eating habits, can shed pounds.

Take It Easy on the Sugar, Sugar

For someone who wants to loose weight, or for anyone at all, processed, white sugar is horrible. The human body is actually allergic to it, and it has many negative effects of you. It messes your metabolism up big time, and lowers your immune system. Keeping a fast metabolism is very important, and sugar does not help. Eating fruits and vegetables helps to keep your body running at a tip top rate, so increase the greens, and decrease the sweets.

Processed Foods Are Not Worth It

While it is difficult to eat completely unprocessed foods all the time, it is quite logical that they wouldn’t be good for you. They’re filled with all kinds of preservatives which clearly aren’t meant to be in the human body. If they are nasty enough to keep mold and bacteria from growing, why should they be any better for you cells. Every time a natural, raw item is processed it looses nutritional value, sure it is tastier, but by the time it comes to the store as your favorite chips or cracker, it is a bunch of empty calories which just get turned into fat. And, certain chemicals added to food, cause the brain to want more, all around, processed foods are not good for you.

What To Do

Simply watching your diet, and exercising is not all that bad. And it shouldn’t be a short term thing. Make it your life style to eat right and stay fit, you will feel better, it’s a fact. Here are a few things you can do:

What Not To Do

You don’t need that late night snack. Now that your at home, and getting ready to go to bed, your body is becoming inactive, and not burning off as many calories. A late night snack will just sit in your body and get added to your hips.

Start Big, Get Small

When you wake up in the morning, your body has used up most of the food in your system. This is the time of day to eat a large meal. Your going to be active all day, and you’ll be able to handle the calories, burning them off in good time. As the day progresses, decrease the size of your meal, eating very little for supper.

Break a Sweat

Breaking a sweat everyday is a good way of knowing that at least your burning some calories. They aren’t kidding when they say that exercise is good for you, it really is.

Eat Your Veggies

Vegetables are a great way to feel full and now have to worry about eating too much. Raw is better, but even cooked vegetables have a decent calorie amount. Full of anti-oxidants, and essential vitamins and minerals, they help to keep your metabolism up.

While it isn’t guaranteed that doing this stuff will make you loose weight, it will keep you healthier, and live a more pleasant life. Don’t just take my word for it, get out there and try it!
