Things to Do When You Feel Tired
Feeling tired is common and often depressing. We have to try every means to dismiss the fatigue and revive ourselves. There are many things we can do.
After a day’s work, many people feel tired and the routine adds weight as time goes by. Do not underestimate the daily fatigue for a continuous one without proper handling will deteriorate our health. Mentally, we will feel more tired unconsciously. It is essential to have some means to revive ourselves. This article lists ten things to do when we feel tired. Most of them are simple and basic. Apply them on time to stay healthy.

1. Take a good rest
Have a good sleep every night, hopefully at least seven hours every day without interruption in between. For whatever reasons you can’t manage adequate sleep at night, take some naps at daytime. A 15- 20 minutes nap at lunchtime will be fine.
2. A moment of no thinking
People can revive themselves while staying awake. At the time of travel, try sitting in repose with one’s eyes closed. If there is a park nearby, take a walk over there and breathe in some fresh air. Allow no thinking in the mind so that you can be freed from troubles and worries for a short while.
3. Reduce work
When people get tired, the efficiency drops. It is time to reduce work. Frankly, many people do not have significant bargaining power over their workload. How can we reduce work when having heavy workload? This demands some self-improvements. Here is a suggested list, taking employee as an example.
a. Adopt the most effective way to do a task.
b. Simplify the work procedure.
c. Learn your peak hours of a day and achieve the most during that period.
d. Set priority so that the most important tasks can be completed first. You can reschedule some minor tasks to a less busy day.
e. Assign tasks to your subordinates instead of doing everything by yourself.
f. Communicate with the superior well for a realistic workload in the long run.
4. Slow down
When you are tired, slow down a little bit. Nobody can maintain full speed in successive long hours. Slow down is an inevitable adjustment. Do not view it as a defeat and suffer from self-reproach. Apply it as a warm-up for the next big task instead.
5. Change the routine
People can refresh themselves by changing the routine. A switch and adding new elements are some common strategies. Be creative and allow the sense of having control kick the mental fatigue.
6. Have some excitements
Allow the five senses to excite you. The excitements from seeing lovely animal photos, hearing a joke, smelling a coffee, tasting a chocolate bar and hugging can be a stimulus to recharge people.
7. Have a holiday
The holiday can be a short one (weekend) or a longer one (annual leave). Some people like to stay home, others like to travel. Some people travel within their own country, whereas others go aboard. It doesn’t matter what your choice is. The most critical point is to do something completely different from the routine and adopt a relax mood throughout.
8. Obtain sufficient food energy
Have a healthy diet helps people cope with fatigue. Some foods and drinks are particularly good at replenishing the energy lost – nuts for example. Learn how much calories you need for a day and eat accordingly will ensure sufficient energies to run your day.
9. Body check
When you try all the aforementioned methods and still get tired easily, it is better to have a body check see if any part is failing. Some people may have a slow metabolism affecting the production of mechanical energy. Follow doctor’s advice to introduce appropriate changes.
10. Solve inner problems
Fatigue can be a mental one. Maybe we don’t want to do something, or think the task is too difficult to achieve. The negative anticipation is bringing us down. Worries like instability in love relationship and shortage of money, or breakup can exhaust people. If we can’t motivate ourselves to take a more positive view, seek help from family members, relatives and friends for encouragements and improvements. If the case becomes severe, do not delay in seeking professional help.
Feeling tired is common and yet do not overlook its destructiveness. Suffering from fatigue in long run can deteriorate health or even fatal in some extreme cases. Take appropriate actions on time to save yourself from any risks and live healthy.

Taking a good rest is the best thing to do to load the batteries and start the day all over fresh and prepared. But, resting too much can also make us lazy…I agree the routine should be changed and if we still keep feeling chronically tired, we should do a checkup of our body at our doctor’s.

Well said and well written. Physical tiredness can be over come with sleep and naps. Mental stress however is a silent driving killer, sleep does not cure this.
