We all know that the only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than we consume. Just as nibbling can add up to weight gain, little tricks like the ones below can also help you shed the pounds with almost no effort.

  1. Fill Up on Fiber

    Fill up on high fiber foods like fruit, veggies, and whole grains. Your stomach will feel fuller longer and you’ll be satisfied with smaller portions of the high-calorie foods.

  2. Chewing sugar-free gum between meals can help satisfy your craving for sweets and as a bonus, it helps keep your breath fresh!
  3. Buddy System

    Pair up with someone else who is trying to lose weight. Having a buddy you can call on for willpower support can make a world of difference.

  4. Turn Off The Tube

    By replacing 30 minutes of television viewing (and you probably didn’t like the program anyway) with 30 minutes of any physical activity – walking, cleaning, dancing, sex-will help you shed pounds and become a more interesting person in the process

  5. Eat Often

    Never skip breakfast. After all those night time hours without food, blood sugar levels are low and your body needs nutrition. Skipping breakfast to save calories will backfire, because by mid-morning your body will be demanding that you eat – and you’ll almost certainly choose a doughnut snack.

  6. Keep Score

    Write down every single bite of food that goes into your mouth. Most of us underestimate the amount of food we shovel into our bodies. Just by being aware of what you’re eating, you will automatically reduce your consumption.

  7. Use a Smaller Plate

    Use a smaller plate, like a dessert or salad plate instead of that 12 inch dinner plate. It takes less food to fill the smaller one, but you’ll still perceive it as an abundance of food.

    Always sit down to eat, even if you’re having a handful of nuts. And sit at a proper table, with no distractions such as television or computer. Pay attention to what you’re putting into your body.

  9. Feeling Blue?

     Did you know that the color blue can depress your appetite? Decorate your eating area with blue curtains, walls, or tablecloth, and use blue plates. You’ll eat less without even trying.

  10. Don’t Give Up Treats

     Yummy desserts don’t have to be chocolate or high-calorie. Be daring and try fruits or low-calorie recipes you’ve never had before.
