Try Folk Medicine to Get Rid of Cold Faster
Winter is still at full swing here in Georgia. Though days are bright and sunny, the weather is very deceptive and it’s easy to get sick. If you catch a cold, you cannot confuse all those nasty symptoms – head ache, sore throat, sneezing, increased temperature, muscles pain and cough – with symptoms of any other illness. Folk medicine remedies are a good alternative to drugs: they will relieve your condition and help to get better faster. All you need to do is to be patient, consistent and believe that this “unserious medicine” will help.

Onion volatile oils, called Phytoncides, possess antiviral and antibacterial properties and also boost your immune system. It’s well-known that they kill almost all types of pathogenic germs. A very simple way of the onion therapy is inhaling the onion vapors. A big yellow onion would be the best choice for this procedure. Peel the onion, dice it, put into a small plastic bag (sandwich bag) and close it. Open the bag as near to your nose as it is comfortable for you to take in a good deep breath. You will probably cough and your eyes will tear up, but this by-product of the therapy is nothing comparatively its positive effect and relief it will bring you.
Onion extensively vapors first 10-15 minutes after being chopped, and this is the time when you should inhale 5 to 10 times. This method is beneficial for people with respiratory complains. It is also an effective expectorant.

I would call the next method extra powerful nasal cold remedy. Grate a horseradish root, put it in the plastic bag and inhale horse radish vapors for 30 minutes. While doing the procedure, you will feel the power of horseradish phytoncides: your nose will be running, your eyes will be watering, you will be sneezing, but it’s all for good. It means that the phytoncides are doing their job.
Here is one more folk remedy, which is not that challenging like the two I have just described above. Burn two or three dry mint leaves on a ceramic saucer and inhale the smoke. Take in three short breaths and then one deep breath. Mint smoke will help to reduce swelling and inflammation of nasal area.
Stay healthy and enjoy productive life.
