Wackiest Ways to Lose Weight

People who want to lose weight sometimes try alternative methods of losing weight that seem a little wacky to onlookers.

Vomiting

People who make themselves vomit to lose weight usually have an illness known as bulimia. Persons who have this eating disorder overeat and then purge. After a delicious meal, the first thought that may cross the mind of someone who is affected by bulimia is, “How can I make myself vomit?”

Anyone asking, “How can I make myself vomit?” is using an inappropriate method of weight control. Erosion of tooth enamel, dehydration, ruptures of the stomach and esophagus, and many other complications can result from vomiting to lose weight.

Hypnotism

People who submit to hypnotism in order to lose weight are trying to change their behavior. The Mayo Clinic says that persons who try to lose weight by hypnotism may lose a few pounds, if it is used in combination with diet and exercise.

Potato Diet

Like many other single food diets, the potato diet gets boring fast. How many ways can you eat potatoes alone? How long can you eat potatoes, with no other kind of food, for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

Potatoes are a good source of fiber and Vitamin C; but unfortunately, don’t supply many of the other vitamins and minerals that are essential for healthy living.

In addition, the glycemic index of potatoes is very high. Persons who are already obese and persons who are diabetic will not benefit from eating potatoes three times a day, every day.

Smoking

Some persons smoke in order to reduce their desire to eat. It is generally thought that smokers are usually much slimmer than non-smokers.

In addition to cutting the appetite, nicotine may also increase the resting metabolic rate. When the resting metabolic rate increases, more energy is used to perform the functions of the body. Studies have not yet proven that smoking causes the significantly higher metabolic rate observed in some smokers.

In any case, smoking has been linked to a wide number of illnesses.

  1. I like eating potato, but won’t eat it alone. Recently I lost some weight due to illness, not an intentional one. I still prefer to diet and exercise so that losing weight can be done in a healthier manner.

  6. I am use to play Football daily in the evening although I am not part of my club’s playing eleven but I am helping them to be perfect and stay fit. Once I was captain of my club but the age of playing player is very short I must admit the way new blood is working in hard and tough environment.
    I found myself far away from any diet stuff, so sports is far better and natural way to loose fiat I think

  31. Those are some of the wackiest ways of losing weight I have ever heard. Vomiting: not very appetizing at all. I think I would just eat less and eat healthy food.

  44. Good article, the idea of losing weight by smoking seems very funny. Most smokers I know actually gained weight since they started smoking.

    By the way, I once tried to get rid of the load of extra food I ate by vomiting, well, did not work for me as the food refused to go out :) … Though, my goal was not losing weight, but rather clearing the way for more food, lol.
