Why People Fail at Weight Loss

Millions of people are trying to lose weight and failing? Find out why.

Millions of people around the world are trying to lose weight. Millions of people, more often than not, fail. There are of course a lot of reasons for this failure. The thing is, most people would rather give up than fix the things that they are doing wrong.

Weight loss is undoubtedly hard. It takes a fair amount of patience and knowledge about nutrition and exercise to make it work. I am listing down some of the top reasons why people fail at weight loss– it is important to  understand these reasons so that you don’t make the same mistakes.

First, many weight loss plans fail because people trying them follow a diet that is too strict for their own good. Think of it this way: so you cut back on your calorie intake, you think you’d be burning just what you have eaten, and eventually you’ll lose weight, right? Wrong. If you cut back gradually, then yes, it will work. What you have to understand is that if you suddenly cut back on too many calories, it will not help your efforts at all. Your metabolism, as a natural reaction, will slow down. Thus, you will burn calories a lot slower. With this method, you may also put yourself in danger for not getting the right enough vitamins, mineral, proteins, and other nutrients you need on a daily basis. Eating the right type and mount of food will get you there faster than depriving your body.

Another common mistake is  trying to go at weight loss on your own. Everything regarding weight loss, from dieting to exercising, will be whole lot easier if you have a buddy to do these things with. (Remember: Misery loves company. I’m kidding.) Having a weight loss buddy means that you will have each other to push not to quit. It would also help to have a support system on a larger scale. Your friends and family should know and understand the fact that you are trying to lose weight. They can help you in the process and avoid doing things like dangling the last lemon meringue pie slice in front of you or taking up your gym time. Remember, too, that professionals like doctors, nutritionists, trainers, or fat loss coaches should also be involved as you would also need their valuable advise to assist in your weight loss.

Another way to fail at your weight loss plan is to set unrealistic goals. Set a fairly difficult goal to reach; when you set goals that you easily can’t reach, and you push yourself to make it, you will get a good feeling even if you don’t quite reach it. On the other hand, when you set impossible goals, prepare to meet Frustration at the end of the day. So don’t weigh in every day, don’t cut back on the food you need to eat on a daily basis to keep yourself healthy, don’t jump right in and exercise too much immediately. Do things gradually, step by step, and take it easy.

Finally, and most importantly, know yourself. Weight loss plans fail when you try to become someone you are not. Know your limitations and accept them. Understand that there are some things you cannot quite change…maybe you have wide hips, a weight loss plan won’t be able to change that. Love yourself for the way that you are made. You have to be happy with yourself first on the inside before you take the next step of changing things on the outside.
