Wu Long Tea Vs. Oolong Tea

Does it really make you lose weight? Don’t get scammed!

Chinese Oolong tea is categorized somewhere between Green and Black tea. The difference is in the harvest process of Oolong tea leaves. Oolong is only partially dried, and not crushed leaving the whole plant material still intact. This is the primary factor in its health benefits.

I think that even though there is scientific evidence of weight loss agents in Chinese tea, the main thing that pushes along the weight loss is an abundance of liquid intake.

Wu Long is the US Marketed name for Oolong tea. Don’t get scammed, there are many companies on the internet making a killing on marketing this stuff. If you’ve researched any kind of tea for weight loss on the internet, a website for Wu Long Slimming Tea has probably come up in a query or two. These people marketing Wu Long tea are charging 39.99/box, claiming that no matter what you eat or how you live you will lose weight just by drinking this tea. They also claim that you can’t purchase it in stores. I almost fell for it and bought some myself, however skepticism took over and I decided to do a little research on it myself. I looked in our local Asian Market and to my surprise I found a product called Chinese Oolong Tea. This tea is exactly the same thing and being sold for .99 cents/box!

Don’t get scammed! Do your research!

  1. did u lose some weight now?while using the chinese oolong tea that u bought at a an asian market?

  2. I will say this I too was curious why suddenly a tea called WU-long was suddenly all the rage????? I used to work for a tea company and I am very knowledgeable about varieties of tea. Now I own a canister of monkey picked oolong that sells for $22.00 per 2oz. and is the highest quality on the market. There are different levels of oolong and I am sure the one’s being sold on the internet are of the lowest purity. When you purchase tea in a box, you can’t be sure of the freshness. I buy my tea from the Teavana corporation and proud to say I worked there too at one time. Gee I miss the free tea drinks!!!! If you can’t get to China Town well you can still go to Teavana.com and order it fresh w/ canisters to keep it fresh for a year….and tell tham Karla sent ya!!!!!! and I’m sticking to my Monkey Picked Oolong.

  3. i have purchased oolong tea from teavana corporation and i too, at one point almost fell for the wu long marketing scam. i have lost approximately 5 pounds in 1 and a half weeks just by drinking the tea morning afternoon and night..i watch to not eat too much but i dont excercise…i have lost weightt thanks to oolong!

  4. Please don’t be a fool like me I paid close to $65 before the shipping charges for this tea and it wasn’t even in a tea bag all becaues it said you would lose weight and feel better. I thought it was good all because I saw it on Oprah….don’t be fooled by everything you see on tv shows they mean well but they too are in it for the advertising to raise a buck, how do you think they give away all that free stuff. It surely doesn’t come out of their own pockets be for real now. No one does anything for nothing in todays society especially the rich. Well after a visit with my brother and his girlfriend I found a oolong tea bag in her colection of teas and she said she got it from her chinese take out back home and paid 1.25 a box. I didn’t believe her until she took me to the website so I bought 5 boxes, the more you buy the less they cost and they are already bagged. Much easier and nothing floating in your tea while drinking it and it isn’t as strong because you have the right amount in the tea bag. The way they sent mine you don’t know how much to put in the steeper and it makes a mess…..so glad I found this and can save so much money……look before you buy!!!!!

  5. the wu-long tea i bought for $48 has made an amazing difference in my body, yet I stumbled accross a tea called oolong tea wich is the same exact thing as wu-long just so much cheaper, and not onlyhave I lost weight but this tea pleasures my taste buds!

  6. I got this tea at heath food store how would i know its the real tea??

  7. All tea comes from the same plant, it is just the process it goes through that determines what type of tea it is you’re getting. Oolong is the reult of tea being partially oxidized (green tea is hardly oxidized, black is fully oxidized). You should never be paying more for oolong than you are for green or black! There is nothing rare about oolong, so don’t fall for the gimmicks. Wu Long is still oolong and vise versa, it is just the english way of trying to spell out what it sounds like in chinese. So yes, you will find the exact same tea selling at $1 a box at the asian market! If you’re wondering about getting the full benefits out of the tea, whole-leaf is always better than tea bags as whole-leaf has been processed less and can be steeped more than once, bringing out it’s properties more each time you steep and it just pennies a cup!

  8. Thank you so much for this information, because I really didn’t want to buy through the internet because I didn’t know what I was getting.

At least I now know where to buy it other than using a credit card.

  9. I used to drink oolong just because it tastes good but had no idea of the benifits. I have been drinking regular black tea for the last 5 years sinple for the availability in supermarkets but I think I’ll go back to oolong now! Thanks for the tips!

  10. Is this tea good for kids? My neice is 13 and she started drinking it recently. No side affects so far and she lost 3 pounds already!
