Chapter Two: Size is Only a Number/Healthy Ladies Come in All Sizes. Plus Size Model Manual

Inspirational writing for women of all shapes and sizes.

Today I want you to make a promise to yourself that you will stop the Fad Diet Trap! Remember size is only a number fabricated by the fashion industry, therefore, if you can disassociate yourself with your size and just look at your body with an open mind and and heart, you are taking a first step to a healthy happy life!

There are some things you can do to help kick start this revelation – Also if you have Show Time on Demand, please check out Pen and Tellers Obesity Epidemic(Bullshit) it will help put things in perspective:<) like why a certain size is considered obese by Government standards…they conduct real physical fitness competitions, as well as physicals conducted by medical doctors comparing the “Overweight People”, to the “regular size” people…I won’t spoil it and tell you who actually turned out to be healthier, but it is quite interesting!

Exercise is not designated only for weight loss, our bodies are designed to move! They are so amazing and capable no matter what shape and size we are.  Brisk walking every day is so important for our minds and bodies.  Being a Plus Size Model means being physically and mentally healthy, the only way to be these things are by getting daily exercise.  When we are in a photo shoot our personalities and happiness have to shine through to get the shot,so I have experimented and have come up with easy ways to fit exercise into our busy lives, I strongly recommend wearing a pedometer during the day because 10,000 steps equals 5 miles, and you will be surprised how fast your steps add up by using these shortcuts!  It’s also very important to have the necessities like a great  bra, some comfy sneakers and comfortable clothes.  You can add some ankle weights to your steps as well, to burn some extra calories.

  • Lunch breaks at work are a great opportunity to get outside and take a 15 minute walk, you can eat your lunch the same as every day just break down the hour so you have that time set aside for your walk.
  • If you rely on public transportation to get around, you can skip your bus stop and walk to the next bus stop to get some extra steps into your day, if you have time you can take the bus to your destination, and when your done with your job or errand you can walk home.
  • Being that the gas prices are so extremely high and are not for sought to lower any time soon, bikes are a great alternative to automobiles, more and more towns and cities are opting for bikes and they are creating a safer bike friendly atmosphere.
  • On your lunch breaks spend 15 minutes climbing stairs, or at home during commercials.
  • While enjoying swimming with friends or family walk/stride through the pool, do 20 intervals and take a break, do this for 15 minutes or on and off throughout your time in the water.
  • During TV programs, or if you prefer commercials, walk in place!
  • When going shopping at the mall or the grocery store, park further from the entrance.
  • Instead of using the drive through go inside to order.:<)
  • Just keep in mind that any movement is great, even your daily activities like walking the dog, gardening, playing catch, etc… can be as effective as going to the gym!
  • Adding a couple of these simple things to your daily routine will increase your endorphins making you more happy, less stressed and will postpone the effects of aging, thus nothing will be out of your reach.

If you have digital cable with on demand they have a wonderful channel called exercise on demand the choices are great from yoga to walking in place and jogging.

Treadmills are always a great investment too!

Just keep in mind that our bodies are a gift and we should treat them with the utmost respect, activity is key for a healthy happy life.
