Five Natural Alternative to Overcome The Symptoms of PMS

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is commonly associated with hormone imbalance. Usually it has connection with excessive estrogen. Estrogen is the hormone that play a role in changing a person’s physical and emotional condition.

As per my doctor, I have excessive estrogen. I am still wondering how to cope with excess estrogen. Maybe you can share information about it. Hormone therapy makes my knee feel painful, so I stop it. For the meantime I can only do these 5 natural ways to overcome premenstrual syndrome (PMS), that is a common result of excessive estrogen.

PMS symptoms typically include mood swings, irritability, depression before menstruation, often feel tired, breasts harden and headaches. These symptoms are often exacerbated by  menstrual cramps.

Many alternatives can be done to balance hormones and reduce symptoms of PMS. Changes in lifestyle and using herbal remedies are the two things that you can choose to help balance hormones and relieve symptoms of PMS:
 
1. Vitamin B6

This vitamin can help alleviate water retention (water retention in the body causing swelling), which is associated with symptoms of PMS, such as breast swelling, pain in head and mood changes.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is important in improving mood, because it plays a role in the production of tryptophan which in turn helps increase the body’s serotonin. Consume at least 50 – 100mg of this vitamin every day with the content of vitamin B complex which is believed to be able to cope with high symptoms of PMS.

2. Do Physical Activity.

As you know, exercise is good for your health and stamina to avoid the common diseases. But not only that, do this exercise regularly at least 30 minutes a day can also help reduce levels of estrogen. The exercise will prevent you from changes in mood, depression and anxiety associated with PMS.   

3. Choosing the Right Type of Food

Foods such as meat, sugar, caffeine and alcohol will stimulate the overproduction of the hormone estrogen. By consuming foods that contain high fiber, fresh vegetables, fruits and nuts can help your body to reduce excess estrogen. Foods rich in fatty acids are also believed can help to balance the body’s hormones. It is recommended to consume at least one serving of foods that contain omega-3 such as salmon, sardines and walnuts every day.

4. Herbal.

To cope with water retention try to drink tea mixed with dandelion leaves. Dandelion leaf is one of the medicinal plants that can relieve PMS/ water retention. Berries are also believed to balance hormone levels because it can make calm.
 

5. Aromatherapy.

Go shower with warm water. Soaking in warm water can reduce the symptoms of PMS. Try to soak in to salt water mixed lavender essential oils to soothe and reduce emotional distress. Soak for 20 minutes and then see the results, stress and pressure due to PMS will soon be moving.
