Is the Diva Cup Set to Replace Women’s Period Staple?
The new invention for women’s periods. Good or bad? You decide.
If you’re a Man and don’t want to know or even know what your partner uses when she is on her period stop reading now and email this article as a good gesture to your partner. If you haven’t fainted by now and still reading well good for you!
Until today I haven’t heard of The Diva Cup ( what Americans call it ), The Moon cup ( What the UK has branded it ), The Keeper Menstrual Cup ( What us Australians named it ). I personally haven’t heard of it until today. Maybe it’s because I haven’t had a period for years even though I am only 36 and not menopausal, it is common when you have been on the contraceptive pill for Period pain for many years. I was partial to the Pad myself or the Tampon. The cup comes in two sizes, A or Part 2 and B or Part 1. If you are under the age of 30 and have never had children either naturally or by caesarean then you order the size B which is the smaller cup size and if your over 30 or under the age of 30 and have had a child then you order size A. I don’t know what they think happened to my vagina after turning 30 and still childless but I assure you it’s the same size as the day before turning 30 when I was 29. I can understand the child part as most women’s vagina’s opening enlarges understandably after having a child. But some women’s vaginas after child birth can restore back to its original size. I still don’t get the turning 30 part I in fact find it quite amusing as there isn’t a bigger void there. I wonder if you can exchange it if you have ordered the wrong size after finding out that the day you turned 30 your vagina just opened up like some volcano after all after discovering this when you tried to place it into your vagina.
The Diva Cup is quite large looking and actually looks like a funnel to place transmission oil in but hey that’s me. Anyway before placing it in when your period starts you have to sterilize it with boiling water. Once sterile you can place the cup in while you sit or stand, whatever is comfortable for you. You fold the cup in half, then fold it in half again and insert the Diva Cup into your vagina. Apparently it takes some getting use to. I bet it would. If you see some women out there walking bow legged you know they are using The Diva Cup. When it’s full you pull the stem out, empty the cup, wash it with soap and water, rinse and replace. If you are experiencing any problems or concerns they have a number you can call but they only open business hours. Until then tell your period to stop. Yes, the phone network support I believe obviously will need a little adjusting to say 24 hours, 7 days a week as our periods don’t stop after business hours people.
I guess this method for periods they are trying to save the environment again due to the waste us women cause by daring to use tampons and pads. If you follow the instructions of The Diva Cup it will last you years.
Personally when or if my period starts up as sometimes I can I am sticking to the pad. I am a woman not a Holden who needs her transmission oil changed.
