In the event that a person is unable to continue with the slimming diet and reverts back to normal eating the body will respond by increasing the fat reserves in the body. The body anticipates that there may be chances of food shortage in the future and therefore it tries to make sure that it will have enough fat to go through that period. The rate of metabolism will also be affected. During the slimming diet the metabolism rate is reduced considerably. Upon reverting to normal eating patterns metabolism rates are not adjusted fast enough and the body is unable to make use of all that is being consumed. This excess is stored in the body as fat.

The amount of fat that is stored in the body is primarily determined by the types of food that we eat and the amount of exercise that we do. These two go hand in hand. If you engage the body in various forms of fitness training the body will have an increased capacity to use much more of what you eat and thus your weight will be manageable. Your diet also needs to be healthy; it needs the right amounts of healthy proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
