Lose the Baby Belly & Beat The Baby Blues
Motivational jump start to gaining energy after childbirth through positive exercise with quote from Julia Roberts.
It’s nice to know that Aussie mums still have one trick up their sleeve when it comes to beating the baby blues.
We see glossy magazines filled with photos of gorgeous, lean celebrities in size 2 jeans and they always looking perfect don’t they? Ah, if only my life were airbrushed too!
Even super celebs like Julia Roberts seem to be against us with a near perfect figure in record time after giving birth to twins!
When your baby is crying every couple of hours through every night of the week it can really pack a punch on your coping skills, even super mums need a little time out to re-group occasionally.
Aussie mums from big cities to small country towns are mixing it up at their local gyms. Yes it might sound a little bit daunting while you’re feeding your baby for the umpteenth time today just to get a bit of quiet time for yourself; but take it from your once exhausted, sleep deprived Aussie sisters and Julia Roberts for that matter, it works.
The very same once depleted mum friends of yours are the new hip chicks and they’re sensational women! Who’d have thought that the old gym could become “the” place to be, to make new friends, share and compare stories and yes, feel and look like a woman again?
Very soon after you get into the routine of exercise you will notice that suddenly it’s not as difficult as it was the first week and honestly, before you know it you’ll be fitter, breathe easier, sleep better, look refreshed, be leaner and stronger and you’ll cope with stress before it can take hold.
Tons of gyms these days have their own crèche to put the kids in right there in the same building, so you can keep an eye on them if you wish and build rapport with the carer.
If your local gym doesn’t have day care at all then there’s plenty of other options for you such as an independent crèche or day care centre, a family member or a trusted friend.
Of course if you’re still not comfortable with the idea of a public workout you could always rent or borrow (from a library) a workout DVD or video. These days there’s plenty of workout DVD’S and videos catering specifically to the new mum.
Working out at home is easy to find time for. Try putting your baby to bed after a feed, closing the door grab your baby monitor and just go workout alone, or make it fun and workout with a girlfriend.
Once you start, your energy will return, you’ll be healthier, cope with stress better and with a friend it can be a barrel of laughs, for the both of you.
“I must admit, I don’t love exercise, but I do love how I feel afterward. Accomplishment, clarity, energy, strength, joy. These are all things I give myself through working out, and I can feel it in everything I do.” -Julia Roberts
