Mental Anguish for Women in the Determination to Have Fallopian Tubes Tied

In the medical circles of doctors and patients, the issues of concern about mental anguish for women is real and at times over looked. As a woman considers having their Fallopian tubes tied, this inner turmoil does not often surface beforehand.

Society seems to push patients out of the hospital very quickly after a medical or surgical stay. Now,  maybe  the clinics have caught on and allotted only 15 minutes for each patient to be seen, diagnosed and treatment recommended.  The clinic I worked  at for 5 years, did exactly that.  In the fast paced office event, many women are not given the full time to have the anguish that might be seated within themselves to be related to their health care professional. There might even be an inability for women to be fully aware of the mental state that the tying of the fallopian tubes could cause.

Most often times a woman choosing to have her fallopian tubes tied has one or more children at home and is contemplating the minor “snipping” as a permanent birth control method. The choice has been contemplated for a while, maybe discussed with her partner and ends up to be the treatment of choice to eliminate the chances of more children.

A woman deciding this;  is  most often times exhausted from 9 months of carrying a baby, some hours of intense physical demands on her during childbirth, which don’t culminate to a “without a doubt” decision. The longer she takes to come to the decision to have her fallopian tubes tied, the more apt she is to conceive another baby in  a short time.  Some women even choose to have the tying of the tubes done right after the birthing.

The end  to ever conceiving again is permanent when the Fallopian tubes are tied, with an extremely rare exception. When that thought grounds itself in a woman, it creates a sadness like no other.
