Women’s Health and Fitness
This article discusses how women today are experiencing a better quality of life because of exercise, nutrition, and activity. It explains why women from decades past are different from youthful women today.
Today’s women hardly resemble those of decades past! In the era when women put everything else in life ahead of their own health and care, they simply didn’t live as long nor with as much quality. Is that because today’s women age much more gracefully, or that they take care of themselves more? Actually both of these are why women have found the way to live longer and have added a better quality to those years. Let’s face it, we all want to find that fountain of youth and some seem to have tapped into it.
There’s a popular phenomenon among health conscious women, and it’s that they appear much more youthful than their age would imply. Fifty is the new thirty? It’s possible. One of the reasons women are living longer and remaining fit, is because of the focus on eating right. Being aware of the types of foods they consume, allow women the ability to operate their daily lives with more energy and vitality. With variety in grocery shopping and availability of organic products, free range meats and the like, being physically healthy is easier.
Another component to women remaining active is the participation in exercise several times per week. Walking trails, parks and gyms are filled with women well into their senior years, keeping fit. Some sort of physical activity, at least three days a week not only affects performance, but all around health and stamina. These women push themselves farther and harder than they have in decades.
Women are also working longer and longer and require good habits to maintain these hectic schedules. From board rooms to retail counters women are remaining in the work force in numbers. Many of those, if asked, are in no rush to simply stop, but rather, enjoy continuing in their careers. Work is a strong factor that can increase a woman’s overall health.
Good eating habits, exercise and work, are not the only influences which seem to be adding to the lives of women across the US and other countries. Their involvement in their communities is key. Many women participate in volunteer work or some sort of community focused activity. Whether it is extracurricular because of their families, teaching a class or attending a book club, women are doing even more things apart from work. These activities add a lot to the lives of women, both physically and emotionally.
Emotional health is just important and being fit physically. Eliminating stresses and finding time to simply relax promotes good health. When women are refreshed and relaxed they are able to keep up with their busy schedules, which in turn makes the body function properly and better.
Dr. Oz Garcia, in his book Redefining Fifty focuses on the things people do these days, to prolong their lives. These are things that people, especially women, didn’t do in the past nor focus on as much. But now that the more health conscious voices are being heard and heeded, droves of men and women desire better, quality lives. Dr. Garcia states relaxation for being very important to promoting that quality. So spa treatments, or massages, fit into this category well, and women who take time out for these special, little treats, are also keeping their bodies healthy.
The health and fitness of women today, does not come about accidentally. When they purposefully take their health in hand, get to know their own bodies and focus on living a good quality life, the effects will be seen quickly. These effects spread out to all areas of their lives and will hopefully allow them all of the benefits a long and happy life can provide.
