You don’t have to spend a small fortune on skin care products to have and maintain younger looking facial skin, you just need to know how to best use basic skin care products.
Most women shy away from using soap on the faces for fear of drying out their facial skin and use a more expensive type of facial cleaner. Soap is not necessarily bad for your face and not all soap will dry your skin. Soaps saturated with super fatty emollients will cleanse and moisturize your facial skin. A less fatty soap will leave oily skin feeling clean without leaving heavy oils behind to clog pores.
Frequent skin facials, whether done at a salon or at home, can actually make some skin problems worse. The facial skin stretching, poking and prodding will make acne and rosacea worse. Facials do deep clean and tighten the skin, but should only be done once every two months.
Skin lotion or hand lotion is not the best choice to use as a facial moisturizer. Your face has more delicate skin than the rest of your body, plus most faces have a combination of dry and oily skin. Fragrant and chemical laden skin lotions and hand lotions often aggravate skin conditions on the face. Use a facial moisturizer designed for your type of skin, and note that the most expensive is not always the best, read the label and compare ingredients.
Always apply sunscreen to your face at least 15 minutes before going outside. Sunscreen should be applied to cool, dry skin and given a few minutes to soak into the skin before sun exposure.
