Six Natural Ways to Stop Snoring While Sleeping

How to stop snoring naturally? Snoring is due to the blocked airway, which could be due to a cold or can be even caused by over relaxed muscles of the throat and tongue.

This anatomy problem involving the soft tissue at the back of the throat is seen in upto 20% of the population. The over relaxed muscles of the throat and tongue can be due to the consumption of alcohol and drugs. The following are few natural ways to stop snoring while sleeping.

1. It is more likely to snore when you are sleeping on your back. So it is good to sleep on your side. Also avoid sleeping on your stomach because you will be stressing on your neck while doing so.

2. A very good reason for snoring could be your excess body weight, and that too especially around your neck. Because this excess weight will put pressure on the airway thereby partially collapsing it. So reduce your excess weight.

3. Use of alcohol and sleeping pills can relax the muscles of your throat and jaw by depressing your central nervous system. So use of these substances before sleeping will make you more likely to snore.

4. As smoking damages your respiratory system, you are more likely to snore if you smoke.

5. You must keep a regular sleep schedule with plenty of sleeping time. Keep bed time and wake up time consistent.

6. Along with your head, raise up your upper body with pillows or by putting blocks under the head side bed posts. This can make your breathing easier as it will reduce the pressure off of the airway.
