Acid Reflux / Heartburn? Home Remedy : No Prescription Needed!

Sick of buying over the counter or prescriptions for your heartburn that just do not seem to work? Try these home remedies.

When I was younger there was no such thing as ‘acid reflux’. There was no Nexium, Prilosec or other exspensive prescriptions.

There were home remedies that worked (unless your pregnant, sorry ladies, you have to suffer).

First and foremost is the old standby of baking soda, not to be confused with baking poweder. Baking soda helps regulate the acidity of the stomach to help stop heartburn, upset stomach and gas.

Mix 1 teaspoon to 6 ounces of water. Drink at once.

Another home remedy that many people may not know of is  Apple Cider vinegar. Again this works by regualting acidity.

Take one tablespoon before meals

These home remedies are fairly cheap and common household products.

If these remedies do not work, seek medical attention from your doctor. Heartburn can be a symptom of serious health conditions such as a heart attack.

I am not a doctor.

  5. Very helpful tips indeed!

  6. Oh i was prescribed by my doctor to keep on taking Nexium but I stopped. Now, my prayer is my best medicine. And I will also try this one. Thanks.

  7. Good points mentioned and very helpful

  8. Thanks for sharing this because I have acid reflux and minimizing some of the symptoms is a plus.

  9. Great share thanks

  10. I used to suffer from this ailment. I found that eating small meals regularly gave relief from the pain and suffering. People who have this problem should also cut down on oily and spicy food. Too much coffee and tea intake would also aggravate the symptoms. For these types of problems it is better and safer to go for natural remedies than to take drugs, as drugs come with a lot of side effects.
If this problem doesn’t go away after trying these remedies it is very essential to see the doctor as the symptoms can be due to a more serious condition like stomach or esophageal ulcers or pyloric stenosis and also heart attack (which mimics the chest pain like in heart burn) like you have mentioned.

  11. Excellent tips. Like the idea of these home remedies better than all the Rennie’s I keep sucking!!!

  12. yuck… but if it works…. ok.

  13. I remember these ways. I never took them as I did not start having acid reflux until they brought out prilosec by prescription only. It works wonders.
