Weight Loss Blog: 1/9

Being busy is key!

One of the things that I always aim to do when I am trying to lose weight is keep myself busy. When I am able to do this, the weight loss is a lot easier because not only am I kept active, but I am also not bored and this means that I am really able to do the best that I can not to eat junk food.

Tonight, I am going to a party, and that is going to be interesting for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that I am going to try not to drink for the first time in a couple of weeks. When I first started losing weight, I made the decision that I was not going to be drinking alcohol because I know just how many calories it has in it, and that kind of thing is usually something that I could do without. But, now that I am very near my goal weight, I have been having the odd drink again every time we go on a night out, and this is something that I would very much like to stop doing again if I can. The reason for this is because I am never the type of person who would drink enough to get drunk, and that means that the calories that I am drinking are pointless as they don’t even serve any purpose or have any kind of effect. Plus, the amount of money that drinks cost, it just made me think that there wasn’t all that much point in me carrying it on if I wasn’t even enjoying it, and it was having no positive effect on my weight loss or anything like that.

I am going for a walk this afternoon, and that is good because I have been at my computer all morning as I had an assignment that I had to do. Part of my job involves being able to complete work at very short notice, and this means that there are sometimes a couple of days together that I am sitting at my laptop and am unable to move. This makes exercising a little bit difficult, so I have to make sure that I do my best to get out and about whenever I can. I am going on a half hour walk this afternoon so that means I will be burning at least some of the calories that I have overeaten this weekend so far.

I always go to watch a rugby match on a Friday night, which was last night, and that makes mealtimes a little awkward. Because we have to leave the house before the time that we would usually have dinner, and only get back at 10pm, it means that the only options are either to eat something at the match, or to wait until I get home again. Because the food at the match is unhealthy, I usually choose to wait until I get home, but this means that I am always very hungry, and often choose to eat a little more than I would have done normally. But the way I look at it, it’s only one night a week, so I don’t suppose it will have made all that much difference in the grand scheme of things.
